When was the
last time you ate without any distraction and focused only on your meal?
Take time to
think about it.
It’s hard,
right? As it might’ve been so late that you can’t remember.
We, humans,
tend to think more likely than spending time in the present moment.
So,
meditation is really an effective way which has helped me to gain control over
my thoughts and emotions.
While
mindful eating has been a powerful tool to regain control over my eating
habits.
Before we
get any further about mindful eating, let me summarize briefly what exactly
mindfulness is.
Mindfulness|
The Art Of Staying In Presence
Mindfulness
is the awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and sensations of the surroundings
and to be able to connect ourselves in the present moment.
This is the
quality of being fully engaged in the tasks we’re focusing on and accepting it
without any judgment.
We practice
mindfulness through meditation known as Mindfulness Meditation which is a great
way to sense the present moment.
What Is The
Use Of Mindful Eating?
Mindful
eating is easily related to mindfulness.
It’s a great practice for your body
and mind.
It’s about
reaching a state of complete focus to your physical indications and cravings.
A better
chance of understanding what foods maintain a healthier body while also
encourage deeper gratitude towards every meal and every ingredient.
The main
question arises, does it help to lose weight?
When it
comes to losing weight, the food you’re eating should be limited, exercise
regularly and maintain the traditional diet.
A traditional
diet usually creates judgment, anxiety, and pressure.
But Mindful
eating is different.
When practicing
this most people don’t need to perform diet or regular exercises,
This is
because mindful eating allows our body to consume less and get more satisfied
with what you eat.
Many people
have seen great benefits like developing healthy eating habits and losing
weight.
Moreover, it also affects your brain to improve functionality and to have focus.
Why It’s The
Best Choice?
We often do
not stay in presence to enjoy what we’re eating.
More or less the same we do
when we watch TV or use smartphones.
Just think
about it.
When you were in the theatre watching an amazing movie.
You bought a
popcorn pack to extend the enjoyment and begun to eat.
After a few minutes or so, you
realize that you were so into the movie that you already finished the popcorn.
We overeat
because of our emotional needs, not that our body needs it.
And the reason
behind it is because we don’t often connect with our food, rather just think or
worry about the past, and sometimes predict or get excited about the future.
The key
message is your mind needs to be here.
Right here and now, without any thoughts
or distractions while you eat.
And this is
called mindful eating.
This
practice will help you to overcome the unhealthy relationship you have with
food.
And this will be more beneficial than your
regular diet, in combination with yoga.
How Can You Start
Mindful Eating?
Preparation:
The first
step is that you need to be aware of your body needs to eat something.
It’s
very important since you need to learn to control your emotional hunger, for
example, the smell of the food.
Next, you
need to understand the quantity of food you can consume.
I’d suggest
you start by trying to fill your plate with a small amount but not
insufficient.
Now, turn
off your TV and keep your smartphone away.
Stop everything that can distract
you. As we don’t want any distractions.
Start Eating:
The next
thing you need to do is to take a few deep breaths.
This will help to relax a
little bit.
Now clear
your mind. Don’t think of anything.
Just focus on how the food makes you feel.
-
Feel
it in your hands
Observe the meal closers. Ask yourself,
‘Is it squishy or hard?’ ‘What about the color?’
-
As
it Enters your Mouth Feel the Weight, Smell & Taste
Don’t rush. Take your time to chew it thoroughly. Listen to the sound as
you chew it. Engage the senses.
-
Continue
eating the food with great awareness
Eliminate all of the distractions and shift your attention to your meal.
-
Stop
when you’re full
According to
research, it takes almost 20 minutes for the signal to finally reach your brain
to say you’re full.
So it’s a
better practice to eat slowly and understand your needs.
Whenever
your emotional mind strikes you to eat more, try to reject it.
_____
Alright
then, now you know the whole process of mindful eating.
Performing this will
help you to be more aware of the quantity of food you’re consuming.
It might
look silly to eat in front of everyone as they might look like you just dropped
from the sky and having a meal for the first time.
So I suggest
practicing meditation, as it’s an effective practice to get started.
Along with
great benefits like reducing stress and anxiety, it boosts self-esteem and
increase happiness,
It’ll also help you to enjoy the present moment which is a
life-changing experience.

guys later,

Cheers
